Transcript Ancient Laws of Power EP.1 - What is Power ?
My name is Ebenezer Gabriels and today I have something very very powerful I'm going to talk to you about. Today we are talking about power. So as we begin, if I be ask, what is power? What is power? Do we define power from the stand of physics? Do we define it from mathematics? Do we define it from chemistry? Or do we define it from astrophysics? Or do we define it from the sociologist's point of view? Or from the psychologist's point of view? Well, whatever stance you take, you might not be far from the truth. But let me give you a very simple and easy to understand definition of power that you can apply in every area and in every segment or section of your business, of your life, of your family. Are you ready for this? Power simply is what is defined as ability, efficiency, and might. That's it. Power is defined as what? Ability, efficiency, and might. So now we have to unpack those three things, right?
Ability, what is ability? Ability is a these are the things that you essentially are able, not only able, you are willing and able to do because ability that does not translate even to work or to something that is done is what they call potential energy or an energy that is never actualized, right? You take a ball or an object right on top of a hill, you roll it down from that top of the hill. Right on the top of the hill, the acceleration essentially zero there, right? But the moment itâs released and begins to roll down that mountain, as you know, speed and acceleration is added in there and by the time it gets to the bottom of the hill there's something called the final velocity, right? So what happens is that that ball, when it was on top of that hill, it could do, it could become something, it could do something, but it was not doing something. So that is what they call power and rest. It's doing nothing, right? So the ability alone is not enough. Or being able to do something alone is not enough. Able to do something and willing to do it and also affecting those things. All right? So not only are you able to do it, you are also willing to do it and you also get even to the stage of what of actually doing it. Able to do it, willing to do it, and actually doing it. One more time: able to do it, willing to do it, and getting to do it, right? So that is a we're talking about power: ability, efficiency, and might.
So efficiency as it is, is being able even to look at the different ways of achieving a task with the least amount of resources. Okay? When we talk about the least amount of resources, we are talking about the energy, money, people. Okay? So efficiency or being able to do something efficiently is something that would have taken 100 manpower to do. All right? Is there a way to actually, not because you want to reduce the manpower, but is there a way to either do the same amount of work or with the same amount of resources do more work? All right? So the efficiency around that is going to be about being able to effectively assess the task at hand. I've got to bring that ball from the top of the hill down. What can I do? Do I need to get how slopey is the hill? Is that hill slopy enough that the ball can easily roll down the hill or can I have some gutters so that the ball can essentially just roll down the hill without any issue? So it's very very important to be able to look at the task at hand and look at the best possible way to achieve or to complete or to fulfill that task without expending the maximum amount of resources, right? So efficiency is being able to adequately assess a task or an assignment or a project with the maximum benefit from your resource. It is the ability to be able to look at an assignment, a task, a project, and fulfill it right without having to expand the maximum amount of resources, right? So that is efficiency. It's very very important to understand it. Efficiency is the ability to assess even a task, an assignment, a project, and be able to complete it without using the maximum amount of resources. And resources like we said could be your capital, could be your cash, could be your people. So doing things efficiently, that is efficiency.
All right, number three. So we talked about ability, efficiency. Now we're talking about might. So might, this is very very important. Okay? So a lot of people when we talk about might, the thing you're thinking about is what can I do? How strong am I? And you will not be wrong in a lot of ways, right? But one thing to essentially consider before you think about your physical ability or your mind, what you are capable of doing, you have to think about how strong are you mentally first. All right? We're talking about might. The majority of the war or the battle that is been won is not won at the battlefield. It is won by some strategist sited in the middle of nowhere, you know, thinking through about the entire process of the battle. Okay? I'm going to say that again: the majority of the battle or war that you see won is not actually won on the battleground. Yes, we need the soldiers to be there to plan the attack and to come in there to shoot arrows, not arrows, guns or whatever it is right has being used on the field, right? Okay? It is a strategist that is actually thinking about all the moving pieces. Draw a battle plan. Who is that individual who is the master planner? Who is the architect of that battle? Who is going to design the line of attack? Who's going to design the line of retreat, if there's going to ever be a retreat, to relaunch attack and things like this? That it has to be someone who has the brain capacity. So this is when we talk about might, do not always think about what you can physically do. Might has to do with what? Mental strength. Okay? Your might, because if you cannot, you know, master strength mentally, you cannot master strength physically. So it is important even to understand that when we talk about might, it is what you are able to move up there mentally that is able to then bring the entire story together.
So when we talk about power, ability, efficiency, and might, this is talking about especially that might, right? Your might is the organizer. Your might is the tenacity that you have in your mind. Your might is that vision of the entire thing that forms up in your mind and youâre able to organize. So without the might that brings power, your ability, your efficiency might not be applied correctly. As a matter of fact, you cannot do something or assess something efficiently if that might is not there. So it's very important even to be able to look at these three concepts, marry them together. When you bring them together in any area of life, in any sphere of life, you become the individual who actually rolls, who walks, who runs, who flies with power. And power is something that is very attractive, not only because to get things done, but because it also lays the foundation even of what is to come. I want to encourage you, take some time, think about these concepts. Sure some of you are going to have questions. If you have questions, please let us know about it and we'll be able to address them in the next episode of this. It has been such a pleasure spending time with you to talk about it. It's one of our favorite subjects, especially in this power series, the subject of power. Power again is ability, efficiency, and might. We'll see you soon.
